Charming early 20th century opera glasses really fool the eye till you take a closer look and see that you are looking at a milk glass candy container with gilt detailing, tin screw caps on the lenses andgold lettering indicating they were souvenirs from a town in N.Y. I can't make out the name of the town. Quite nice condition - no chips. Actually may be a bit earlier than I approximated above.

A gorgeous, complete set of magic lantern slides, retelling the story of PETER PAN in glorious color, was a favorite form of entertainment in the Victorian and Edwardian nursery. . Each slide is 3 1/4" square. Two thirds of the original box holds the slides - unfortunately the main part of the lid is missing. The slides were made in England at the turn of the century. $95.00

Elegant little thread waxer enabled thread to slide more efficiently through the fabric, probably facilitating tinier stitches. About 3/4" in diameter, each side is made of mother-of-pearl and decoratively carved. I would guess it originally was part of a fitted sewing box.Ca 1900. Lovely condition.
