Charming early 20th century opera glasses really fool the eye till you take a closer look and see that you are looking at a milk glass
candy container with gilt detailing, tin screw caps on the lenses andgold lettering indicating they were souvenirs from a town in N.Y. I can't make out the name of the town. Quite nice condition - no chips. Actually may be a bit earlier than I approximated above.

Four charming Golliwog bandsmen advertise Robertson jams.
The trumpeter. saxophonist bass player and accordianist are all formed from plaster of paris. Two are marked ROBERTSON. I assume that they are post WWII. Condition is quite good - a minor chip on the base of the trumpeter. I assume these are of an earlier vintage because I have another Golliwog - a footballer - made ofmolded hard plastic-like material. The bandsmen all havestickers on the bottom which read "HAND PAINTED POTTERY".

This ca.1950 tin windup came in a Master Carton, Packed 6 to a box. Master Carton had the GOSO LABEL .The original cardboard box is with the toy , The only marking is a stamped solid little rectangle and the numbers 460 .The toy is in very good condition. Runs n a wooden surface when fully woundAfter a few seconds it does a loop and continues running. Overall 3 1/4" wide 3 1/2" tall and 2" deep(not counting the key extending. The toy came from the original store stock of a shop called BRITISH TOY IMPORTS which was located in Karachi and sold toys between the '30's and '60's. The family brought the surplus old stock to Canada when relocating.

Really stunning lithography on this little tin bank. 3" high and roughly 4 1/2" wide oval shape. One side has a scene of children playing with toy soldiers. The other side shows children directing animals onto a Noah's ark they are launching in a pond. Their little dog seems to want to join in the fun. Lanterns hang from the branches above them. The colors are vibrant, the condition is excellent. The rim of the lid (this was most likely a candy tin which was used as a bank when the candy was gone)has the complete alphabet and the top of the lid teaches the importance of saving and also retains the coin slot. The bottom has its closure in place. There is no makers' or product mark. I suspect the tin is English, dating from the teens or the twenties. It is really lovely.

This delightful Jacobs Christmas biscuit tin combines so may wonderful details. First it is a penny bank. then a fortune teller, the spinner works beautifully, then it has wonderful scenes of anthropomorphic bunnies at a Christmas ball. The lithography is gorgeous and the colors are bright. It is in lovely condition. It stands abut 7 3/4" to the top of the arch, the width 4 1/4" at the widest point and the depth 2 3/4" at the deepest point. We forgot to photograph one side panel which shows Mother Bunny adjusting her daughter's coat, with Poppa Bunny looking on, before she enters the coach which is to bring her to the ball. The whole thing is a whimsical delight. Sorry, the little key to the bottom of the bank is missing.

A lithographed tin tray showing a tea party attended by cartoon characters which I have been unable to identify. The mice eyes remind me of the early Mickey and Minnie eyes that were pie shaped. The overall condition is good but the border shows signs of wear. The dating is 1920's - 1930's. The color is very good. The width with handles is 7 5/8", The height is 5 1/2".The back is the typical green color of the era and has some wear and a little rust.

This toy basset hound undulates as it is pulled. It is a delightful image of the dog, tongue hanging out, lithographed on heavy cardboard. From its head to the tip of its tail it wiggles as it is pulled because of its sectional construction. It is marked "Wilder Mfg.Co. Patent, and I'm pretty sure the next word is Pending". The word is slightly obscured by one of the two sets of wooden wheels the dachshund uses to travel. My guess is that the toy probably dates from the '40's or earlier. The only information I have been able to find about Wilder Mfg. is that they also made Tiddlywinks sets. The toy is in very good condition-no paper loss, some minor wear at the various hinges(one hinge has been very carefully repaired). Fully extended the dog is about 22 1/2" long and 7 1/2" tall. The wheels are about 2 1/8" in diameter.
