This little (4 1/2" tall) wind up clown has a great deal of rhythm, when wound up he beats his drum in a syncopated beat and moves about.
He was made in the early part of the 20th c. by Schuco in Germany. Impressed on the sides of his shoes is "Schuco Patent" and "Made in Germany". His condition is very good - just one little bit of discoloration above his left eyebrow - clothes, tin and mechanism. Key not original, but works perfectly.

Tony Sarg(1880-1942)was a well known puppeteer and illustrator. Among many other things he was the designer of the early Macy's parade huge balloons (1928) and Macy's elaborate animated Christmas windows. This box of Tony Sarg designed blocks is 14" X 7 1/2" It contains 8 delightful cube shaped blocks each featuring a different animal - cow, dog, elephant, frog, goat, alligator, bear, cock - c,d,e,f,g,a,b,c - the musical notes. Each block has a jingling device inside and different illustrations on 5 of its 6 sides. The box is dated 1942 and claims "The ONLY Toy that AUTOMATICALLY Makes EVERY TOT A MUSICIAN". The original box and all the blocks are here. However, the box is worn ,although generally intact. The blocks have very good color and all have their musical devices. The biggest problem are water marks - more evident on the box than on the blocks. See photos. Still, a fairly intact toy designed by a great illustrator.

A wonderful toy village. Perfect for a Christmas garden, a mantelpiece or a train layout. Consists of 10 buildings in the Deco/Colonial Revival style. The condition of all the buildings is quite good -some have bits of cellophane missing - about a score of 9 out of 10. They all have openings for lights. There are three different styles of homes, a R.R. Station, a
Telegraph Office, a Supermarket, a Bank, a Theater, a Gasoline Station and a Movie house. Since I photographed these buildings, I have also acquired the RR signal tower and a Bathhouse (this one is the same shape as the RR Sta.) - please inquire about the two additional buildings.

The Little King was a comic strip character created by Otto Soglow in the early 1930s. This charming little walking king is probably from the '30s or '40's. He is made of wood with lithographed features, 4" tall and 2 1/4" across the base. He moves when you pull the little ring on the string coming out of his headgear. However I am sure he was meant to move more dynamically
because one can see remnants of dried up rubber band material on grooves on the spool which are his "feet". Condition of the figure is very good, his perambulations must be left to an engineer.
