This late 19th c. china cup is titled "The Brownies".Underneath this title it says("Soccer"), The body of the cup is wonderfully decorated with the Brownies doing just that - playing soccer. The transfers are in excellent condition. There is one old little chip on the rim of the cup.The underside shows two Brownies teaching us the definition of a Brownie, "BROWNIES, ARE IMAGINARY LITTLE SPRITES, WHO DELIGHT IN HARMLESS PRANKS AND HELPFUL DEEDS. THEY WORK AND SPORT WHILE WEARY HOUSEHOLDS SLEEP
AND NEVER ARE SEEN BY MORTAL EYES..." The cup has a 3" top diameter and is 3" tall.

Beautiful large set of ABC picture blocks is in the original box. The overall size of the box is 15 1/2" high by 11 /1/4" wide and 1 3/4" deep. The lid would have been tacked to the wood-framed base.Charming chromolithographed picture on the cover is excellent Some of the dresden paper strips framing it are missing and the corners of the lid show wear. Inside the box are 15 outstanding blocks 3 3/8" by 2 3/4" by 1 5/16" . The condition of the paper is 9.75+ out of 10. The short sides show the alphabet (upper and lower case), the numbers and various scenes ,including Max & Moritz playing musical instruments. The long sides show a variety of animals both wild and domestic. The set is in amazing condition and really a wonderful toy.I would date it prior to WWI, made in Germany for export.

This 1920's toy golf game called THE GAME OF TRAPS is played with marbles. It was manufactured in Seattle, Washington by the Traps Mfg. Co. The lithography on the inside of the box is in very good condition. The outside of the box is good with the exception of a small amount of restoration on the letter "S"The traps are made of tin and while the game indicates that it includes 4 variegated marbles, I don't think the marbles found with this game are original to it - they look like marbles from a later period. There is wear along the edges of the box, the game was definitely used, However, the overall condition is quite good. The box closed is 11 7/8" wide by 11 3/4" high. Open it is 22" long.
