Runs n a wooden surface when fully woundAfter a few seconds it does a loop and continues running. Overall 3 1/4" wide 3 1/2" tall and 2" deep(not counting the key extending. The toy came from the original store stock of a shop called BRITISH TOY IMPORTS which was located in Karachi and sold toys between the '30's and '60's. Really stunning lithography on this little tin bank. 3" high and roughly 4 1/2" wide oval shape. One side has a scene of children playing with toy soldiers. The other side shows children directing animals onto a Noah's ark they are launching in a pond. Their little dog seems to want to join in the fun. Lanterns hang from the branches above them. The colors are vibrant, the condition is excellent. The rim of the lid (this was most likely a candy tin which was used as a bank when the candy was gone)has the complete alphabet and the top of the lid teaches the importance of saving and also retains the coin slot. The bottom has its closure in place. There is no makers' or product mark. I suspect the tin is English, dating from the teens or the twenties. It is really lovely.

Krampus is supposedly a devil like figure, half man, half goat. He is one of the companions of Father Christmas in his travels - part of European lore. He carries bundles of sticks (used as switches) and usually a bag - in this case a staved basket - or chais (seen in the next Krampus I am listing. The mold is 5 5/8" tall . Made of tinned steel it does have a variety of markings: 16+2,10,11,WIEN (Vienna),...TEICH (cannot make out the first part might not be T but R, and therefore could be the last part of Ostreich-which is Austria.

Lorenzy-Palanca was a company that was located in Marseilles,France and sold perfumes at the turn of the century and went bankrupt in 1930. The Peugeot 201 van was produced from 1929 to 1937. This then dates this charming promotional tin car to about 1930. While it has been described by some as a candy container-the top of the van lifts, it could also have held a perfume bottle - the ultimate packaging! The condition of the lithography and the tin is beautiful. It is 6 1/4" long and 3" high.

This delightful Jacobs Christmas biscuit tin combines so may wonderful details. First it is a penny bank. then a fortune teller, the spinner works beautifully, then it has wonderful scenes of anthropomorphic bunnies at a Christmas ball. The lithography is gorgeous and the colors are bright. It is in lovely condition. It stands abut 7 3/4" to the top of the arch, the width 4 1/4" at the widest point and the depth 2 3/4" at the deepest point. We forgot to photograph one side panel which shows Mother Bunny adjusting her daughter's coat, with Poppa Bunny looking on, before she enters the coach which is to bring her to the ball. The whole thing is a whimsical delight. Sorry, the little key to the bottom of the bank is missing.

This is a beautiful 19th century French wire cake and pastry cooler.
The wire work is intricate for such an utilitarian item. And, it miraculously retained 3 of its tassels. The diameter is 12 1/2" and it sits 1" off the table top. The metal has a very nice patina.
For more information on French antique wire items see WIRE, by Suzanne Slesin,et al, part of the EVERYDAY THINGS series published by Abbeville.

This wire trap is pictured in Suzanne Slesin's book on antique wire. I am assuming it was a mouse trap because of its size. It is now for the collector of unusual wire because a small section of 4 wires in the base have rusted away. The rest if it is intact. It does retain its metal little door for retrieving your catch. Diameter of the base is 6" , height is 4", handle is another 2". It is a neat piece.

A lithographed tin tray showing a tea party attended by cartoon characters which I have been unable to identify. The mice eyes remind me of the early Mickey and Minnie eyes that were pie shaped. The overall condition is good but the border shows signs of wear. The dating is 1920's - 1930's. The color is very good. The width with handles is 7 5/8", The height is 5 1/2".The back is the typical green color of the era and has some wear and a little rust.
