He is one of the companions of Father Christmas in his travels - part of European lore. He carries bundles of sticks (used as switches) and usually a bag - in this case a staved basket - or chais (seen in the next Krampus I am listing. The mold is 5 5/8" tall . Made of tinned steel it does have a variety of markings: 16+2,10,11,WIEN (Vienna),...TEICH (cannot make out the first part might not be T but R, and therefore could be the last part of Ostreich-which is Austria. Toy lead figures show wintry ice skaters and sledders. First it is a penny bank. then a fortune teller, the spinner works beautifully, then it has wonderful scenes of anthropomorphic bunnies at a Christmas ball. The lithography is gorgeous and the colors are bright. It is in lovely condition. It stands abut 7 3/4" to the top of the arch, the width 4 1/4" at the widest point and the depth 2 3/4" at the deepest point. We forgot to photograph one side panel which shows Mother Bunny adjusting her daughter's coat, with Poppa Bunny looking on, before she enters the coach which is to bring her to the ball.The whole thing is a whimsical delight. Sorry, the little key to the bottom of the bank is missing. Fabulously detailed owl, Christmas dresden ornament.
