| The Royal George sank on August 29,1782. It was recovered in 1839. This information is inscribed on the silver cap atop a booted leg shaped pipe tamper - one of the souvenirs made of the ship's wood after the wreck was raised in 1840. At some point the boot lost its toe and it was restored with a piece of bone carved to replicate the toe portion of the boot.
